Cybertruck Winch - a guide from Novawinch

If you’ve seen this off-road video of the Cybertruck from Tesla having difficulty, then you know getting stuck in this beast is going to take a serious winch to get free.

With a curb weight of over 6,800 lbs, a modest 1.5x multiplier is used to get the approximate winch rating you’d want to have. A 12,000 lb capacity puts us in the right territory. Winches like our Novawinch PRO 12500 or Stinger+ 12,000 start to look like a good answer as they are built for vehicle recovery for the likes of larger Jeeps and trucks. These winches typically have excellent seals, quality electronics and fast line speeds because no one likes waiting on a slow winch. But how do you choose?

To choose you’ll want to know how or where you’ll be attaching the winch. We’ve been scouting for an aftermarket winch bumper solution but so far the list of options are few (we list them below). A trailer hitch mount looks like a possibility, but that mount maxes out at 10k, so you’ll want to reduce your potential winch capacity.

Without a mount, a portable winch might be a good starting solution. Bringing along a pulley block is good thinking as well to rig an out-and-back to double your portable winch pulling power.

We’ll keep searching and updating this post and will link winch-compatible components as they arrive. Keep watching this spot.
